Creating a mosaic with the PixInsight StarAlignment tool requires a sufficient overlap between the different tiles that build up the mosaic. An overlap that is too small increases the probability that the star matching routine of the alignment process fails. On the other hand, if the overlap is too big too many images are needed to create a sufficient coverage of the area of interest. This dilemma shows how difficult it is to create a mosaic with several tiles.
In the following video I show how you can acquire the images of a mosaic using the BatchAcquisition script. The coordinates of the mosaic tiles can be determined with the MosaicPlanner script by Andres del Pozo. The BatchAcquition script is able to slew to center coordinates of the mosaic parts with high precision by applying the differential correction algorithm automatically.
